TLOD’s national objectives are to increase awareness of Sickle Cell Disease, form a partnership with a local
SCDA agency, improve tracking of volunteer hours and involve TTA in Chapter Sickle Cell efforts.

September is Sickle Cell Month and the Sickle Walk is in August. Information was distributed to Area Sickle Cell
Chairs and Chapter representatives.

National Awards for Ladies, Teens, Chapters and Areas are evaluated and presented at each Syn-Lod under the
direction of the National Awards Committee. The National Awards Manual presents the Eligibility Guidelines
and Evaluation Criteria for these awards listed below.

Entries for the National Awards Program come from each Area. At the Area level, the “Award Names” are often
different than the National “award names. Some awards are unique to specific Areas and are not judged on the
National level.

All entries for National Awards for Ladies, Teens, and Chapters must have won First Place at the Area Confer-
ences held during the Syn Lod Year with the exception of the submission of the Top Lady of the Year Award. One
entry for each Fiscal Year of the Two-Year Program Period.

Only one First Place Winner in each “Award Category” from the specific Area Conference may compete at Syn
Lod. Any first place ties on the Area level must be broken at the Area level. Only one winner will advance to
National.
