Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD) Leadership attended the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. Na-
tional Affiliates Assembly and the 15th Uncommon Height Gala on November 3 and 4, 2017 in Washington, DC.
Twenty Eight Affiliate Organizations out of 33 attended the recent Affiliates Meeting in DC.

The Uncommon Height Gala is always the high point of NCNW as business and community leaders, media per-
sonalities, celebrities, sponsors and partners, the NCNW family of affiliate organizations and community based
and collegiate sections, and friends celebrated the 82- year legacy of service. The Gala is unique and takes on spe-
cial meaning because unlike previous years, two individuals were honored. The highest award, the Crystal Stair
Award was presented to award-winning actress, humanitarian , longtime friend and member of NCNW family,
Ms. Cicely Tyson. The second is a man who embodies the spirit and tradition of NCNW, Mr. Tom Joyner, a na-
tionally syndicated radio host and president of the Tom Joyner Foundation, received a special award for his un-
yielding support of higher education and scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities as stated by
Ingrid Saunders Jones, Chair of the Gala.

The Affiliates Assembly convened on Saturday morning with an overview of the years progress with emphasis on
NCNW is financial sovereign. An inspiration tour of the Building on the Pillars presented by Dr. Thelma Daley
and the Affiliate Committee. The luncheon featured The Honorable Alexis Herman as the keynote speaker.
