Sparkling Jewels Fashion Show & Awards Ceremony

On Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Best Western Plus Chicago Hotel, the
Ebony Chapter Ladies hosted an
unforgettable event that recognized
and celebrated members of the
community, whom of which
provide services to the youth and
other citizens of the communities in
which they reside.

While Ebony Chapter has hosted
many events that honor notable
individuals of the community, this
was their very first fashion show, which turned out to be one of the
spectacular highlights of the evening. Attendees enjoyed a very professional
entourage of models, and received insightful sneak peaks at upcoming
fashions for the summer and fall. The finale of the evening came, as ten
members of the community were honored with a themed “Harambee
Award”. This was a very apropos theme, as harambee is a Kenyan tradition,
which in Swahili means, “all pull together”.

The ten honorees that received awards are as follows: Mr. Isiah Brandon,
Mr. Vernel Brown, Mrs. Barbara Cole, Mrs. Maggie Dodd, Ms. Rajeska
Jackson, Senator Kimberly Lightford, Mr. Kuenn McClinton, Mr. Randall
McFarland, Mr. John C. Robinson, and Mr. Tyrone Wilson. In addition to the
lovely ladies of Ebony Chapter as the hosting chapter, there were several
other noteworthy ladies that were in attendance: Lady Pamela Porch,
National Chaplain (Ebony Chapter), Lady Mary Leach Davis (Area III
Director), and Lady Emily Jones (Past Area III Director). Other Top Ladies
of Distinction Chapters that graced the event were as follows: Lincoln Park,
Midway, West Suburban, and the Will County Black Diamonds.
