2. SPECIAL INITIATIVES TAKEN ON THE AREAS CAUSING CONCERN:
a. STEPS TAKEN FOR PREVENTION OF SPAD:
Carrying out Foot plate inspections by Safety Dept and Divisional Officers
to check the driving practices of LP/ALPs.
Dos & Don’ts to avoid SPAD incidents exhibited through posters at all
lobbies & Running Rooms.
Directions issued:
For LPs to acknowledge VCD, instead of both by LP/ALP.
LPs should stop the train at a distance of 500mts in advance of stop
signal when it is in danger/ON on down gradients of 1 in 100, 1 in 150 or
steeper, and draw ahead up to two OHE masts cautiously.
In other locations stop the train in advance of two OHE masts from stop
signal and draw a head cautiously.
Coaching trains while approaching stop signals at ‘ON’ shall regulate
their speed well under control at inner distance and further reduce the
speed so as to stop the train at the foot of the signal.
Walkie-talkies should not be used while on run until unless situation
warrant for emergency.
To observe prescribed speeds strictly while entering terminal stations.
To promptly utilize Auto/emergency/DMH brakes in the event of EP not
responding in MEMUs/EMUs.
To ensure working condition of auto brakes of EMUs by applying same at
nominated stations.
Interacting sessions with LPs/ALPs are conducted at Crew Lobby depots.
Frequent checks conducted to ensure switching ‘off’ the CUG phone by
LP/ALPs while on duty as per JPO.
Modified 32-Point Action Plan to Avoid SPAD issued vide Fly Leaf
No.09/2021-Frequent checks being conducted on these points being
followed by crew while on run.
