3. System improvements/Innovations done during the year 2021-22
I. IN-HOUSE DEVELOPED AUXILIARY CONVERTER (GTO) TESTING
ARRANGEMENT:
Traditionally Electronic Cards and Modules of GTO Auxiliary converters were
being off-load tested on shop floor. On-load testing was done only after
installing in the locomotive. This resulted in additional time and also affected
the quality of testing. To overcome the above, a new testing arrangement
has been made available at the shop floor to check the functioning of
complete Auxiliary Converter with prescribed load. This testing panel
comprises of an Electro Magnetic Device make Single Phase 180 KVA
transformer having voltage rating of 415V AC with variable output voltage
range up to 1200V AC equipped with safety feature of over current tripping.
Voltages and frequencies are measured at required points and the
complete functionality of Auxiliary Converter is ensured in the lab itself. This
arrangement has enabled shed to carry out complete repair of GG/WRE
