Afar, to the South, three
majestic mountains known as
Ruapehu, Tongariro and
Ngauruhoe together lay as
distant guardians in what is now
the Tongariro National Park.

I learned that these living volcanoes are respected as
sentient beings; but was not prepared for how hot
things were going to get during my visit to this magical
land of Aotearoa.

These total strangers had been so gracious and
welcoming. They opened their home and their hearts as
they took me on a journey into their rich heritage.

Oddly the man who had at first frightened me in the
restaurant became my rescuer and friend. By the time I
left, I had an open invitation to return, which I
genuinely hoped would happen.

As I drove away, I felt ready to embark on the next
part of my quest to find the J.E.A. Foundation, the
grantor of the Doctorate.

So onwards to Palmerston North in search of the
Foundation.
