The story shows how the headman and his son were both driven by greed for money.
When his son Monu stole from him, the headman realised his own wrongdoing and
promised to change. It teaches us that recognising our flaws and choosing to change
can inspire positive change in others, even in the face of greed and dishonesty.
Once in a village, there was a headman who loved money more than
anything else. He would ask for money from everyone, even for simple
things like digging a well or solving neighbourly problems. People knew that
nothing could be done without paying him. Though everyone knew about
his greed, they were afraid to do anything because he was the most
powerful person in the village.
The headman's son, Monu, grew up to be just like his father. He bullied
other children and spent his father's carelessly. Monu's need for money
became so great that he started stealing from his own father. One day, when
the headman was asleep, Monu noticed his father's wallet hanging on a
hook, filled with money. Monu quietly took the wallet and was about to steal
some money when his father woke up.
