His father was very angry and scolded Monu, but Monu didn't back
down. He pointed out how his father's behavior was no different from his
own - both motivated by greed. Monu left some money for his father as a
bribe, just like the headman did to others.
The headman was deeply ashamed of himself and realised he couldn't
blame Monu for behaving like him. He promised to change his ways from
that day forward. Monu, too, realised his mistakes and apologised to his
father.

Moral of this story
The moral of the story is that change starts from within. When we see our
own flaws and are willing to change, we can inspire others to do the same.
Greed can corrupt even the most powerful, but it's never too late to choose a
better path.
