P. 77
The farmer's life
improved, and he became
more wealthy . He warned
his son to keep offering milk to
the snake when he had to
leave the village. However,
the son grew greedy and
decided to steal all the
gold coins he believed
were hidden in the
snake's burrow . He hit the snake
with a stick, and in anger, the snake
bit the son, causing his death.
When the farmer returned, he was
heartbroken to hear about his son's
death. He blamed the snake,
but when the
snake explained
the truth, the farmer
realised it was his
son's greed that had
caused the tragedy .
He apologised to the
snake, but the snake
chose to end their
friendship, as neither
could forget the past.
