This story tells us that it's good to be honest. The woodcutter is rewarded for telling the
truth when his axe is lost, and he gets it back from a fairy who gives him more as a
bonus. So, being truthful is the right way to go.
Once, there was a poor woodcutter
in a village. He worked hard to chop wood
and was known for being honest and
good-hearted. One day, while he was
chopping wood by the river, he
accidentally dropped his iron axe into the
water. He felt very sad and didn't know
what to do, so he prayed for help.
By chance, a fairy passed by and
saw the woodcutter's distress . She asked
him what was wrong, and he explained
how he had lost his iron axe in the river and couldn't afford a new one. The fairy
felt bad for him and promised to help. She jumped into the river and brought out
a golden axe, offering it to the woodcutter. However, he said, "This isn't mine,"
and refused it.
The fairy tried again, this time bringing a silver axe from the river, but the
woodcutter refused it too, saying, "My axe is made of iron." The fairy went into
the river one more time and brought out his iron axe. When he saw it, he couldn't
contain his joy and said, "Yes, this is mine.
