Again, reflect on what it feels like to move between the differing
perceptions – focus on the vase and then on the twins, and then back
again. And as with the previous picture, why stop at two images? Can
you shift your perception to identify the whale fin, the key hole, and
what else? Use all the tricks at your disposal – focus on particular
sections of the picture, turn it upside down, transpose black with white
– before comparing your solutions against ours, which are shown in
Appendix 1 on page 249.37

As a final warm-up, make a list in two minutes of the uses to which you
can put a leather belt with a buckle, other than to hold up your trousers.
Ideas from our workshop participants have included matching accessory
for shoes; rescue a drowning person; sharpen razor; start a leather belt
collection; straight edge; flash a signal in the sunlight; bookmark; secure a
suitcase with a broken lock; dog lead; bracelet; hole-punch; fire-lighter;
bottle opener; measuring tool; hold a door shut; tapping out Morse code;
whip; template for other leather belts; door hinge.

Clearly there is no correct number of correct answers – the important
aspect to consider is how comfortable you felt generating ideas: did
