Technological and Library Resources
A suggested student laptop configuration is announced to families prior to students’ attendance. This allows for increased student technology mobility and computer use. All students have membership and access to the Bibliothèque Publique Universitaire de Neuchâtel (BPUN) which has an extensive English research selection and online journals.
The Resource Centre
The Resource Centre comprises a library with books, magazines and journals, and work stations and laptop network access. All students are required to sign an acceptable use policy for network use and access.
A dedicated computer network administrator provides support to students with their technological needs and goals, from laptops to smart phones, within the College’s wireless environment.
Le Centre d’Études
Built in 2005, Le Centre d’Études provides students with a space for quiet study and leisure, wireless network access, lecture tables for group work, and an interactive smartboard.
Teaching Tools
All faculty members are furnished with a laptop computer for integration in their classroom teaching. All classrooms are equipped with network access.
University Placement
Enrollment at the Junior College is intentionally small, and all students are in their pre-university year, so students derive a particular energy and focus from within this university-bound community. Many factors are at play to ensure that students have the university placement advice and support that they require while at NJC, the foundation of which is a structured university placement program. The program has a concentration on research, program requirements, preparation, choice, admission procedures and deadlines, and applications for scholarships.
Students benefit from ongoing counselling from NJC’s experienced Director of University Guidance, commencing with course selection advice in the spring prior to departure followed by one-on-one consultations and group meetings while at NJC. It is also the tradition that in early October students travel to Geneva or Zurich to take part
in an evening University Orientation event hosted by the Council of International Schools (CIS). Representatives from 95 notable universities exhibit at this event, admittedly drawn from across the globe to Switzerland by top students and one of the largest concentrations
of prestigious international high schools in the world. Occasionally, university representatives from Canada, the US and abroad visit NJC’s campus while on their European tour to present directly to our students.
