Arbor Chapter
Lacebark pine
Plant introduction:
Arbor, up to 30 meters high and 3 meters DBH; it has
obvious trunks, or several trunks from the near base of
the trunk; the branches are slender and spread obliquely,
shaping a wide tower to umbrella crown; the bark of
young trees is smooth and grayish green. When it grows
up, the bark falls off into irregular thin pieces, exposing
light yellow green new skin. The bark of old trees is light
brownish gray or grayish white, splitting into irregular
scaly pieces and falling off. After falling off, it is nearly
smooth and exposing pink-white endothelium, so it is
called lacebark pine.
Quantity and distribution:
There are nearly 150 lacebark pine trees in each plant
area of BBAC, most of which are distributed in MFA plant
area.
