approximately one hundredth of a second, forcing him to start from thirteenth place on the grid although
he qualified as the fifth fastest Superstock 1000 machine. He has been struggling with being able to feel
and predict the reactions of his motorcycle throughout the entire season, hindering him from achieving
the results that he’s capable of achieving. He put that in the back of his head as he set off for the first race, moving up into eleventh position on the opening lap. Gillim battled with his season long rival, Bryce Prince, in the early stages of the race and eventually made the move past the Californian on the second lap. He wasn’t able to hold steady in tenth position for long as he fell back to twelfth just one lap later, giving way to Prince as well as David Anthony. The Kentuckian was struggling on the brakes heading into turn five and was taken wide multiple times by his competitors, forcing him out of his rhythm at a crucial part in the race. He lost a position to Larry Pegram on the sixth lap and slightly fell off the pace for the remainder of the race, losing ground to the group ahead of him. As the laps wound down, he began to make up time on the Kawasaki ZX-10R of Anthony just up the road, providing him with some motivation in the final stages. The Australian made a mistake and Gillim stole twelfth position overall at the last gasp, finishing in fifth place in the Superstock 1000 class. In the second race, he was determined to come away from the weekend with a podium and his determination was evident in his early lap aggression. The Ken- tuckian worked his way into eighth place overall after just two laps of the second race, putting himself in position for his first Superstock 1000 podium of the season. He was forced to fight back and forth with a fierce pack of competitors all the way until the eventual red flag that brought the race to a halt, eventually beating Bryce Prince to the last spot on the podium by just under half a second.
