Jason Anderson stormed into the land up north ready to get back on the top step of the podium. He has never really been blazing fast during qualifying practices but he looked feisty this weekend in Toronto and put his #21 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna in the 4th fastest spot. He was just two tenths of a second off of the fastest time and it
looked like El Hombre was ready for the night show.
Anderson has struggled with starts all season long but he was able to get off to a decent start in his heat race. After the first few turns he found himself in 3rd but got passed by Peick in the shuffling that goes on during the first lap. Once the craziness settled down and worked around Peick at the halfway point and put some distance between them. Anderson would get close to Justin Bogle at the end of the race but could not get close enough to make a move. But he would finish 3rd and get a ticket to the main where he and Bogle would meet once again.
As I have mentioned, Anderson has not been great at starts this year but in the main event, he managed to come out of the first turn around the top 5. However, his excitement from nailing a decent start was immediately taken from him as Justin Bogle would get wild and go down through the first rhythm lane leaving Anderson nowhere to go. Anderson would go right into Bogle’s bike causing him to endo in a dramatic fashion. Riders piled up all over and Deven Raper’s bike pinned Anderson to the ground. Not the ideal start to the main event for the sophomore rider. Eventually Anderson was able to remount and begin putting in some very fast laps dicing through the field. Nearly dead last after lap one, he had climbed up to 10th at the halfway point. The riders were pretty spread out throughout the race making it hard for Anderson to continue his charge and he would only get up to 9th place. Not the race he wanted but it was only his second race outside the top 5 this season. Anderson has to be itching to get back onto the podium and will be looking to do so next weekend in Detroit.
