Page 33 - Taming Your Gremlin A Surprisingly Simple Method for Getting Out of Your Own Way (Rick Carson)_Neat
P. 33
I have met many people with gremlins similar to Dorothy’s. It is strange
but true that there are vast numbers of people walking around on the planet
who believe that feeling hassled, disgruntled, bummed out, low, and “in a
funk” is a natural way of being. For some people, this is the only style of
existence they know. This was the case with Dorothy.
Having problems and worrying were Dorothy’s way of life. In a sense,
they were her entertainment. She spent a great deal of time in a world of
make-believe, analyzing situations, fearing the future, and regretting the
past. While she felt far less than terrific, on some level she was
comfortable. Worrying kept her occupied and allowed her to avoid making
contact with the real world, for it is impossible to be lost in worry about the
future and/or the past and fully relate to the real world at the same time.
