1983 demonstrated that the only crafts that ‘counted’ were professional, and by the

               1990s many women saw more to be gained by becoming ‘professionals’.
               Cooperation and sharing ‒ central features of the early studio craft movement and

               the feminist movement ‒ were sacrificed in the pursuit of economic gain and cultural
