A Message from your
Executive Director continued
The ADA made available a box of KN-95 masks to any member requesting one. We were
there to help with your problems, and sometimes just to let you vent your frustrations.
At headquarters, we have made changes to keep members and staff safe. Acrylic
barriers are in place at the front desk. The barriers were supplied at no cost to the
Society courtesy of Dan Stein of Premier Display Inc. We purchased air purifiers for the
waiting area and conference room as well as a touchless hand sanitizer station. While
some committees have met at headquarters, we are still, out of an abundance of caution,
planning for Board Meetings and General Membership meetings this Fall to be virtual. CE
courses this Fall will also be virtual. Our CPR Course which must be given in person, is
limited to eight registrants per course to allow for social distancing, masks must be worn,
and only bag valve masks will be used.
Our Face Book page languished for years. During the crisis, I posted information updates
regularly and our followers increased 200%. Our record for a single post was 1,595
views! I continue to update our web site. The site now contains a new Webinar Archive
section, a 2020 Event Photo section, Our Leadership page has photos of line officers and
a listing of Board Members, our Bulletins can be viewed electronically, the most recent as
a “flip book.” In addition, to increase non-dues revenue, the web site now has a “NCDS
Classified Ad section” and I’m in the process of adding a section where members can
purchase NCDS Logo Apparel. If you haven’t been to our website recently, I urge you to
do so. (www.nassaudental.org)
To help with non-dues revenue, please consider signing up with “Smile.Amazon.com.”
When listing the Nassau Academy of Dentistry as your charity, Amazon will donate a
portion of your purchase to our Academy. It costs you nothing, you still get all your
Amazon Prime benefits and you help support our community activities such as Give Kids
A Smile and Oral Cancer Screening events. Look for instructions on how to sign up on
page 33 of this Bulletin!
In closing, we will continue to improve our Society. CE courses will be more accessible
with varied topics, and we will continue to look for new ways to increase member benefits
and value.
