In Our Society | Community Service
Our own “Goo dwill Ambassador” (and “Energizer Bunny”) Dr. Joe Brofsky,
spread our message of Community Service all around Nassau County.
On Tues May 28, 2024, Dr. Joe Brofsky represented the
Nassau County Dental Society by doing a mini–Give Kids A
Smile event at The Five Towns Early Childhood Center in
Inwood NY. With the help of dental assistant, Dena Stein,
they examined 39 children ages 3-5 for tooth decay. These
children attend the nursery school there and were very happy
to receive a dental exam and a fluoride varnish treatment.
They were even more excited to receive a Give Kids A Smile
goody bag. The event is very important for these children
who are unable attend our big event at the Cradle of Aviation
Museum in February. The results found only a few carious
teeth but lots of smiles and hugs.
On Monday July 15, 2024, Dr Joe Brofsky met with Dr Gina
Reinoso, head of the Pediatric Department at Harmony Health
Care L.I. in Hempstead to donate over 150 dental goody bags
from the Nassau Academy of Dentistry. Just another example
of our community outreach.
Beginning in 2009 as Family Health Centers – Long Island
FQHC, Harmony HealthCare L.I. is a non-profit organization,
dedicated to providing the highest quality care to the largest
number of people in Nassau County, including those who are
typically underserved. They provide all aspects of adult and
pediatric medical and dental care.
Dr. Reinoso thanked Dr. Brofsky for brining “smiles to our
young patients.”
In May, Dr. Brofsky spoke at the Pinning Ceremony for the
graduating hygiene students at the SUNY Farmingdale School of
Dental Hygiene.
For more of Dr. Brofsky’s contributions, see the article on page 15.
