NCDS Walk for Oral Cancer Awareness

On September 10 , the Nassau County Dental Society had their first “Oral Cancer Awareness 5K Walk/
Run.” Held at Bethpage State Park, the weather cooperated and everyone had a great time. There was a
live DJ, participants received T-Shirts, participated in raffles, and there were free oral cancer screenings for
the public. Most importantly, NCDS was able to raise over $26,000 for the Oral Cancer Foundation. Thank
you to our volunteers who did a great job putting this event together: Drs. Parul Dua Makkar (Chair), Eileen
Chun, Meena Jaiswal, Kathy Leibowitz, Maureen Tredwell, Jim Dolin, Ava Kamenshchik, Lynna Pillai, Scott
Tredwell, Steve Akseizer, and Nanette Schubert, RDH.

Shredding Event
With our Shredding Event on September 23 , mother nature was not so kind, and the remnants of the
tropical storm drenched our volunteers at our third annual shredding event. But the bad weather didn’t
stop our members as it was the largest attendance to date to dispose of old charts.
