• June is PTSD Awareness Month. The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors presented
NAVAHCS with a Proclamation recognizing June 2021 as PTSD Awareness Month.

• Bullhead City Veterans Resource Fair is June 25 . Primary Care, Mental Health Services, and
other programs like Military2VA (M2VA formerly known as TCM), Suicide Prevention and MST
are attending this event.
Veteran VA Medical Care Debts
• The VA is cancelling/refunding first party Copayments and cost shares for all Medical
appointments and Medication fills for Dates of Service between April 6, 2020 – September
30, 2021.
• Statements will remain on a freeze until after September 30, 2021.
• Modified statements are to resume in July 2021, after refunds have been initiated.

Housing Updates for Veterans:
• The Grant and Per Diem Program (GPD) has begun placing Veterans at the Jerry Ambrose

Veterans Council of Mohave County and as of May 28 , has 3 Veterans in Transitional
Housing, 2 pending, and outreach continues for additional placements.
• NAVAHCS Enhanced Use Lease (EUL) project has continued its development and the
developers are working on completing surveys and obtaining permits to begin the construction
process. The EUL will provide housing on the VA campus for an anticipated 70 homeless
Veterans. It is estimated to open in early 2023.
• Kingman Veterans Villas opened in September 2020. The project has 48 units set aside for the
HUD-VASH Project Based Program. As of April 26 , all of the units at the Veterans Villas have

been assigned and should be fully leased up by early June as Veterans work on finalizing their
applications.
• Mobile Vaccination continues to address vaccinating our Homeless Veteran population with
the COVID-19 vaccine. Vaccinations have been provided to some of our more outlying areas
such as Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City.
• H-PACT Kingman continues to build its census and began a new process of offering available
clinic appointments during Outreach, currently serving 140 Veterans with 51% percent of their
panel having received Covid vaccinations.
• We are fully staffed once again in Kingman, awaiting onboarding for a Hopi Tribal VASH Social
Worker in Flagstaff and currently filling two additional positions in Prescott to be fully staffed.

• A resource fair is planned in Bullhead City on Friday June 25 , 85 Veterans are expected to
attend. A Stand Down in Prescott is being planned for September. A Stand Down event was

held in Flagstaff on May 14 with representatives from VA Health Care for Homeless
Veterans.
VHA VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION – COMPENSATED WORK THERAPY (CWT):
• To date the VHA Vocational Rehabilitation Program/CWT has assisted over 50 Veterans with
obtaining competitive employment within the community.
• Mean hourly wage obtained is $16.01 and mean weekly work hours obtained is 38.
• The Homeless Program Community Employment Coordinator in collaboration with the CWT
program will implement the Veterans School at Work (VSAW) program with an expected start
date of August 2021. The VSAW program is a certificate program that provides Veterans
training to assist them with succeeding in school, at work, and moving up the career ladder.
