An alternate method of constructing a pretension back-tie over a long span or with
limited rope is to simply employ a Trucker’s Hitch (Figure 115). The single strand of
knotted 11 mm rope joining the anchor points, has a breaking strength of 20 kN (4,496
lbf), which is equal to the strength of the main line. When a rigid link is not critical,
because the front and rear anchor points are individually sturdy, this creates an
adequate back-tie rigging technique.
