Tursu was born around Christmas
time in 2013 in Didim, Turkey. She
is from a litter of seven although
unfortunately, 4 of her siblings died
of distemper. Her mum, known by the The dog
locals as Lady, was very protective of thought to
her puppies up until she was be Tursu’s
poisoned by a local business owner, dad.

two brothers to fend for themselves.

A friend in Altinkum who I'd stay with
a few times a year volunteering at the
local animal shelter with them when
I could, sent me Tursu's post from
Facebook and I fell in love
immediately. Just look at
those little eyebrows!

A local expat heard about Lady's
poisoning and after lots of bribing
with food managed to catch the
remaining puppies who were riddled
with parasites and malnourished.
They took the puppies to the shelter
to be treated and neutered before
bringing them home to the kennels
in their garden to be cared for.
After a few months of looking after
the dogs and building their trust and
confidence around other dogs and
humans, they used a Facebook group Tursu in Turkey.
for rehoming dogs in Didim to try to
find their forever homes.
