CURRICULUM
PATHWAYS
All students study the core curriculum but the details of the core
(the number of lessons of each subject and the qualifications
gained) will not be the same for everyone. We would like you to
think carefully about the subjects that you want to make up your
Year 10 and 11 programme and the level of support that you
require in order to achieve the very best. Your group tutor,
housemaster/housemistress and the Year 9 team will guide and
support you to make appropriate and agreed choices. Of course
you will also want to discuss this with your parents.
GREEN PATHWAY
There are different curriculum pathways through Year 10 and 11.
The green pathway is built with deeper levels of support including
additional lessons in English and Maths in order to maximise
students’ chances of success in these subjects. The core science
option here is BTEC Science (covering content from Biology,
Chemistry and Physics). Students following the green pathway
could choose to increase the amount of science studied by
selecting Combined Science as one of their options, which would
result in two GCSEs in science at the end of Year 11. The green
pathway leads to qualifications in eight subjects.
