Sharp Force Death (4)
The decedent was found near a walking path behind an apartment complex and not visible to any residents due to trees.
He had been stabbed multiple times, was fully clothed, and on him were found his wallet with identification, credit cards
and cash. In his pockets were found a marijuana pipe, a tin with residue, some coins and keys. He was found prone, fully
clothed with a hoody over his head. There were several defects in the clothing, many in locations corresponding to
injuries. There was blood on the ground and bloodspatter on a tree near the decedent. Found several feet from the
decedent was a screwdriver. No other evidence was found.
Law enforcement photographed the scene and contacted apartment residents. There was no vantage point to the
decedent, and none reported seeing or hearing any activity. Clothing and the screwdriver were sent for examination –
blood was identified only to the decedent, including on the screwdriver. Nearby public transportation security cameras
were reviewed, with the decedent found getting off a bus at a nearby stop and he appeared to be with three other
males.
At autopsy the decedent had multiple stab wounds to the head, face, neck, back, chest and abdomen. These were of
various descriptions, depths, and other measurements. Significant injuries were to the front of the neck and chest. There
were other injuries to the back which were not from a knife. The manner of death was homicide, and the cause of death
was due to multiple stab wounds.
The defendant was arrested three weeks later, identified from security camera recordings as being one of the males
exiting a bus behind the decedent. No knives or other similar instruments were found searching him, his vehicle, or his
rented room. He had no injuries on him, including healing. He stated not knowing the decedent, or having seen him. A
knife was reported by a friend of the defendant and recovered from a dumpster – no evidence from the knife was
determined.
