This introductory course educates students as media consum-
ers as well as preparing them for possible careers in journalism.
Students study the history of the American media, ethics, inter-
viewing, advertising, photography (composition, no darkroom),
page design, news judgment, copy editing and news, feature,
editorial, and sports writing. Developed writing skills, reflected in
an A or B in previous English courses, are strongly recommend-
ed before enrolling in this course.
