    Kalev Chocolates
    The Kalev Chocolate factory
    has been making candies
    in one form or another for
    more than 200 years. Their
    new factory outside of
    Tallinn is more than 26,000
    square meters, employs

    makes more than 15,000 tons of sweets every year. Kalev
    makes a great selection of chocolates and candies in all
    sorts of packaging. If you want candy boxes or bars or
    bags - they off er it all. You will fi nd their sweets at nearly
    every food shop in Estonia. The larger the shop, the better
    the selection. They even have their own dedicated candy
    shop in the Rotermann Quarter courtyard at Roseni 7
    right in the city center. Kalev also operates Maiasmokk
    Cafe in Old  Town. Maiasmokk  (roughly Sweet tooth in
    Estonian) is the oldest cafe in Estonia having operated in
    its current location since 1864. The interior today remains
    true to its roots. Here you can also get handmade candies
    produced on the premises.
    Eco Foods
    Estonia has a thriving green movement in food. There are
    a number of speciality shops around Tallinn that sell a wide
    range of "Eco" products (Öko in Estonian) produced in
    Estonia. Most of the larger supermarket chains also have
    Eco sections.  The range of locally produced products
    include everything from grains and breads to snacks and
    candies. Here is a short listing of some of the centrally
    located Eco shops:

    Glazed almonds
    There are a couple of companies that specialize in making
    glazed almonds in Tallinn - and they really are a tasty treat.
    You will see the medieval-style wagons when you walk
    around some tourist areas. It is common for the wagons
    to off er free samples. Each person has their favorite so it
    might be best to sample. The almonds can also be bought
    in the larger grocery stores. The two brands to remember
    are Olde Hansa and Maias Munk.
