Self-Care
Meditating on the Bible and prayer was my way to the
truth that set me free. My healing truth is that God knows my
thoughts, so I talked to Him and invited Him to fill my mind,
will and emotions.
Here are some activities that you can do in the community:
● Walk with a friend.
● Go to a Zumba or exercise class to release sadness and
stress.
● Schedule a day spa.
● Staycation with a friend.
● Night out at the movies.
● Coffee shop with friends.
● Get your nails done.
● Get a haircut.
● Schedule a massage.
● Read a book at a local coffee shop.
In 2012, a husband and wife, who lost their first child Garren,
processed thoughts in the form of writing ‘“letters to heaven”.
They gave permission to me to share their thoughts. The father
wrote an entry about his son shortly after their life-changing
day:
My son lived and died on the same day. I never got to
teach him his numbers or letters. I never got to read
him a book before bedtime. I never sent him off to
school for his first day of Kindergarten or played our
first game of catch in the yard. I never got to take him
to the air show, or talk with him about classic cars. I
never got to watch him play with the boys at church.
We never got to go hunting or fishing. Worst of all, I
never got to hear him say “I love you dad”, and that
truly breaks my heart. There are so many things that I
