but it could be tempting to do just that. Recall that first moment
where you knew nothing would be the same! The numbness,
anger, sadness, and the realization hits that your story was not
changing. You could not go back to the week, the hour, or sec-
ond that all was still all right.
Take a breath, roll with the punches, and hang on for dear
life. Losing your child is that roller coaster, amputation, and
tsunami wave that has a way of punching you in the stomach,
piercing your heart, and changing your entire world. Just like
that, you are inside the grieving stages.
Maybe you wonder how long will be there? The short an-
swer is forever. Bear in mind grieve changes. While grief is a life-
long journey, you can grieve as long as it’s your season. No one
tells you how long your night will be or should be. During your
night season remember Psalm 30:5, “Weeping may last through
the night, but joy comes in the mourning.”
