The fourth industrial revolution combines advanced technologies in innovative ways, dramatically
reshaping the way people live, work and relate to one another. Various industries are getting
redefined, the health sector can be reimagined, the work space is undergoing changes, robotics
and artificial intelligence are going to play important roles and the customer will be more empowered
in the digital environment. Institutions need to manage the change by redefining their business
models and to manage various stake holders such as customers, regulators and shareholders. The
banking business models are changing globally from being old traditional branch business to highly
advanced automated customer centric experience for performing day to day banking activities.
The forces of digitisation and the rapid adoption of advanced internet technologies are increasingly
resulting in the international establishment of a flexible and proven corporate architecture that is
increasingly being referred to as a “digital ecosystem.” People should have necessary tools to help
them thrive in the digital economy. Chartered Accountants have an important role to understand the
digital ecosystem and thereby enhance their contribution in the same. Amidst these developments,
the 5th International conference of the Doha Chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India
will be held under the theme “Sustainability and Growth in the Digital Era” which will provide an
ideal platform for discussions on emerging trends in digital technologies and the evolving roles of
Chartered Accountant in the Digital Era. It will also facilitate effective interaction amongst well known
business leaders, regulators and passionate digital professionals in Qatar. I wish the Doha Chapter
of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India a Grand Success in hosting this event.
