4. System improvement

4.1 Fuel Conservation

By continuous monitoring of shutting down of rear locos of MUs while hauling
light/empty loads: A quantity of 20KL of HSD oil was saved by shutting down
104 rear locos during last 8 months of 2018-19 resulted in savings of Rs.
7,51,519/- to the Railways.
Shutting Down of Lie-over locos in Yard a quantity of 183 KL of HSD oil was
saved by shutting down 2108 rear locos during last 8 months of 2018-19
resulted in savings of Rs. 68,64,215/- to the Railways.
