MEMBER PROFILE
Despite what some people may
believe in this ever-evolving
digital era print is far from
‘dead’, just ask Dean Froome.
For the past several decades, his family
business M&T Printing Group has been
one of Ontario’s top print providers by
continually positioning itself on the
leading edge.
“It’s a very capital driven industry, so you
have to invest in big technology, and we
have,” he says, taking time out of his non-
stop schedule to chat at the company’s
Sheldon Drive facility in Cambridge,
one 13 locations it operates throughout
Southwestern Ontario.
M&T Printing provides a wide range
of full-service products which include
traditional offset printing and an array
of state-of-the-art digital production, to
signage and promotional materials using
the latest in technology.
“Sometimes it’s not always good to be
a pioneer, but we are still excited that
printing is not dead,” says Dean, who
operates the business with his brother,
Michael, and father, Don, a company
founder. “We’ve had some really good
years and I believe we have many more
good years ahead.”
Employing more than 150 people and
with large printing facilities in Waterloo,
London, Ont., and Brantford that operate
24 hours a day, M&T Printing has come a
long way from its humble beginnings in
1968 when Don, now 85, was approached
by two colleagues in the advertising
business in London they all worked at to
start a printing company. M&T Printing,
named after his late partners Doug Moore
and Endel ‘Andy’ Tahk, opened its first
office in Kitchener followed by a second
location a year later. Don bought out his
partners approximately 25 years ago but
kept the name.
Printing business presses “We joke the company’s name means
‘money and time’ because that’s what we
forward will save you,” laughs Dean, who became
very involved in the business in the late
1980s after having grown up in it while in
high school and later university. “I had
printing in my blood and loved it. It was
something I liked doing and I liked seeing
the final results.”
