Session 10:
Child of Promise

The discipler begins this session. This is the last lesson.

We’ve met together. Prayed together. Shared together.
Maybe cried and laughed together.
And even better—you also met with Jesus who

said when two or more are gathered in his name, he’s there, too
(Matthew 18:20).
So you might think now is the time for a graduation certificate, some-
thing you can hang on the wall proclaiming a Fully Formed Jesus-Follower.
Um…no.
Not going to happen.
You are a follower of Jesus, but you haven’t arrived yet. That won’t

happen, until you’re with Jesus in heaven.
So long as you’re walking around on this planet, you’re a work in
progress. You’re trailing along behind Jesus, being transformed by your
friendship with him.
And for that you don’t need a certificate. What you need is faith,
hope, love, joy, and to rely on the promises of God.
Because one thing you are right now is a Child of Promise. Your heav-
enly Father has gifted you with promises that are yours to claim as you
follow Jesus—and they’re awesome.

The discipler asks the following.

As you head into this session, you may be feeling anx-
ious about what’s coming next. While some of these
sessions have been challenging, they’ve also provided support as you’ve
focused on being more intentional about following Jesus.
Maybe you’ll miss them…and that’s okay.
