Jesus isn’t sending you off to fend for yourself. He’s with you, and if
you’ve connected with a faith community, there’s ongoing support there,
too.
You’re not alone. In the Kingdom of God, you’re never alone.
That’s one of the promises God makes to you.
The disciple takes the lead.
Devotion Check In
Share your responses to the three devotions you did
preparing for this session. Be open to discussing what
you wrote and experienced—it will open up new opportunities for growth!
Both share.
A Conversation About Being a
Child of Promise
First, a quick explanation: No matter
how old you are, you’re still God’s
child. One facet of the relationship God has chosen to have with you is for
him to be your Father.
And like every good father, God loves seeing good things come into
the lives of his children. That’s why he saved you through grace, equipped
you with gifts to use in ministry, and is ever and always willing to forgive.
He’s also made you some promises, so let’s look at them.
1. God is a God of promise.
“For we live by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7).
“For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteous-
ness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righ-
teous will live by faith’” (Romans 1:17).
Every decision you’ve made to follow Jesus—from the moment you
called him your Lord and Savior to your decision to meet today to grow as
a disciple—you’ve walked in faith.
