Discipling Sessions
Your ten meetings will feel more like conversations and coaching
sessions than lectures.
Yes, there’s material to cover, but the point isn’t to master a moun-
tain of material. You’ll talk with your discipler, share your stories, see what
the Bible says about key topics. You’ll pray together and review how you
answered questions you considered during the week.
And you’ll be asked how your Stretch Activities turned out.
Stretch Activities are weekly mini-projects that help you rely on Jesus.
They nudge you to put what you’ve learned into action so you can see how
following Jesus plays out in everyday life.
Relax, Stretch Activities don’t require you to sell everything you own
or move to Mongolia. They’re more along the lines of asking you to en-
courage someone at work, or pray in a new way or a new place.
They stretch you, but nowhere near your breaking point.
And to keep things fair, your discipler will also take on these weekly
assignments. Which means you two will have a lot to talk about when you
get together!
Please know we’re praying for you as you dive in. And we’re excited
for you. We’ve walked with thousands of people through these sessions
and know you’re about to experience something wonderful.
You’re about to grow closer to Jesus.
Next up: Your first discipling session—but before you meet with your
discipler please do the following three devotions to prepare for your time
together.
Weekly Devotions
There’s great power in preparing for a discipling session by prayerful-
ly considering the upcoming topic. That’s why you’ll be asked to complete
three quick devotions before you meet for a session.
