UNTITLED
Joshua opened the door to his apartment.
Less than that, it was more like a simple
studio. It had one piece. Looking into the darkness of
the house, Joshua felt a kind of relief from the
darkness. There was an undefinable smell, but it was
familiar to the young man. A smell he was so used to
that he only noticed it when he decided to go out and
buy something to eat, and the wind outside hit him
hard.
Reassured to find his cocoon after a quick
outing to replenish his stock of shrimp chips, Joshua
took a step into the darkness. He didn't turn on the
light right away to better enjoy his reunion. He knew
his apartment so well that although it was very bad,
he could draw it from memory in every detail. The
empty shrimp chip packets littering the couch legs.
His old coffee cups that used to pile up in the sink.
The crack in the corner of the bathroom covered with
mold. The dust on the video game controller he got
at Christmas that he never touched.
