He closed the door behind him, still in the
dark. His breath came to him, and a squeak, like
pebbles rubbed against each other. He resigned
himself to bringing light to his home. The bulb
flickered, then lit up.
Josh looked wearily at the silhouette sitting on
his couch. Rather than sitting, she was sitting cross-
legged; two of her limbs, which must have been legs
on the armrest and backrest, a vague shape of a
human head downwards. This sight brought the boy
only slight irritation and deep boredom. Calmly, he
pushed his shopping and some rubbish to the side,
and dropped himself on the other end of the sofa. A
sizzling sound was heard and a cold voice came from
the grey-brown thing.
"Is this really how this object is used?"
Joshua searched for something resembling eyes. It
seemed more polite to him to speak in front of his
interlocutor. He found just two small holes in what
he identified as a forehead. He stared at them
intensely as he answered.
"Absolutely."
When the creature began to move into the
conventional position, the squeal became so loud that
