P. 127

A child once goes to attend a wedding party and, on a table, he finds
lots of chocolates and toffees kept between other food items. The
child wants to eat the chocolates, he goes near the stall but he

cannot reach them with his small hands. He requests his uncle who
is standing nearby to provide him with the toffees. His uncle says
that he will lift him up and he can himself pick up the toffees. But the
child demands that the uncle should get the toffees for him. Hearing
such a demand, the uncle gets amused and asks the child how does
it matter if he helps the child pick the toffee or he himself brings it for
him. The child replies that the uncle's hand is bigger than his and if
he collects the toffees, he will be able to collect more than him. This

point which the child made so innocently, has a big lesson for all of
                us.

If the uncle’s fist is so big for the child, then imagine God’s hands. If
he starts giving something to someone, the person will not be able to

handle it. If you make demands then it is possible that it will be
influenced by your condition, circumstances, your self-image, your
skills and your needs. You would not even know that whatever you
are asking for yourself will be good for you or not.

Harivansh Rai Bachchan said, ‘if we get what we wish, it is for the
better, and if not, then for much better’. If you do not get something

that your mind desired, it means that this has happened because
God wanted it to be so. It is possible that a small child will start
asking his mother to allow him to play with a snake. But the mother
knows that this is not right; the snake can bite him and anything can
happen. You will have to learn to be happy with God’s plan—you will
not lack in anything if your belief is strong.

Your life will always have a spiritual peace, relaxation, long lasting
happiness. You will always have this thought within you that God has
given you more than your capabilities and stature. This knowledge
will keep you grounded. To earn success and to live with it, are two
different things. Even if you face some troubles along the way then
you must take it as a blessing. Even if you develop a fever, then also
