Introduction to Healthcare Science

Introduction to Healthcare Science is an introductory course
into Healthcare Science and a prerequisite for all other
Healthcare courses. This course enables students to receive
initial exposure to the many Healthcare Science careers as
well as employability, communication, and technology skills

needed in the healthcare industry. The concepts of human
growth and development, interaction with patients and
family members, health, wellness, and preventative care are
evaluated, as well as the legal, and ethical responsibilities.

Food, Nutrition, and Wellness

The focus of the course is centered on health food and lifestyle choices. Students will investigate the
interrelationship of food, nutrition, and wellness to promote good health. The curriculum teaches the
skills necessary to make wise food choices, evaluate nutritional information, prevent chronic diseases,
and practice food safety procedures. This is the introductory course for the Nutrition and Food Science
pathway.
