Air Conditioning systems and COVID

Central air conditioning systems are safe and in fact beneficial to use
in commercial applications like malls, shopping complex and public
spaces. Air conditioning systems control both temperature and humidity
in the conditioned space. This increases human resistance to
infections which is highly beneficial in the current pandemic
scenario. Contrary to the general perception that it is a

closed-air system, these systems are in fact well-ventilated.
A standard central air conditioning system design includes
a mechanical ventilation cum filtration system that draws
in adequate fresh air. The system also maintains Relative
Humidity between 40% - 70%, which is ideal for avoiding the
               propagation of the Covid-19 virus.

              Air Conditioning in Malls

Generally, malls will consist of the following zones:

Common areas Food court and Movie theatres Shops (Small,
like atrium restaurants medium and large)

Super market Children play area Toilets Kitchens

For the common area, dedicated large capacity AHUs are provided and air distribution is
               done through ducting.

Other zones in a mall are catered with dedicated AHUs / FCUs and ducting. Air conditioning
system for each is be operated independently depending on the requirement and the
working hours of the end users.

Air from one zone will not mix with other zone due to this dedicated air distribution design

which is in most of the shopping malls.
