                                                           Tryout

Situation: Modules are in the process of being drafted
or have already been drafted. You want to know how
well they work and what to do to improve them.

Unless you’ve got a license in mind reading, tryout is the
touchstone to instructional success. Oh, sure, I know there isn’t
time for “that sort of thing.” I know that lead times are usually
short and instructors don’t have much time for course devel-
opment. But that doesn’t change the fact that tryout is the key
to success. I know you would agree with me if I were talking
about products other than instruction—in many instances you
wouldn’t even touch the product if you thought it didn’t go
              through tryout.

                “Has this airplane been tested?”
                “What?”

“Has this plane gone through tryouts to make sure it
                  works?”
