Management
Both instructional and performance technologies are sub-
sets of an even larger domain referred to as “management.”
Management involves the allocation and control of available
resources toward the accomplishment of goals and objectives.
That’s as true of the management of a giant corporation as of
the management of a ship, a church, a family, a classroom, or
our own personal lives. When we are allocating and control-
ling available resources to accomplish goals and objectives, we
are managing. Some of the resources usually available to cor-
porate managements are shown in Figure 2.3.
