                                                                                             Ahn Seung-yol Curator

2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the Angelie Museum and the 38th solo exhibition of Director Kwon Suk-ja—a truly
                 special and meaningful year.
In a time when art is still far from becoming an everyday part of life, to have endured, persevered, and now arrived at
this moment of celebration with the special exhibition “The Story of Angelie Castle” is profoundly moving. First and
foremost, congratulations on the exhibition, and I wish for the continued prosperity of the museum.

The artistic world of Kwon Suk-ja is akin to taking a gentle stroll through life.
It captures fleeting yet beautiful moments from our daily experiences. These may include things that give us sensory
joy—like trees and flowers, or the soft warmth of a gentle dog. It may also recall youthful memories, such as a bride in
May, or perhaps a sudden light sent by an angel in the midst of an otherwise dull life.

This joy does not exist in isolation. The effort to capture the beauty of life brings together nature, memory, and daily
living onto a single canvas. While the world she portrays is not narrow or confined, it retains a uniquely personal and
                 distinctive style.

The artist loves the sound of the piano, fresh lilies, the mystical figure of a maiden, and round clocks. Much of her work
softly and primally responds to nature. Each element gathers and harmonizes, ultimately portraying an image of the
world. Within that world lies a goodness—an acknowledgment of its inherent beauty—that evokes our deep-rooted,
                 pastoral ideals.

There are times in one’s personal fate when nothing seems possible. In such moments, it may be the small things in life
that help us endure—perhaps even the only things that do. Without a handful of lilies or affection for a warm-hearted
dog, the harshness of the world might have become unbearable.

Thus, we hope that Kwon Suk-ja’s new works will continue to reveal moments of tender nostalgia, new happiness, and
                 luminous experiences.
