3. Ten Years Have Passed—And Now, the Future Awaits
Ten years have passed this way! The days of the future we are about to meet now exist because of the help and protec-
tion of people with angel-like wings, who lit the path with 3,650 Lanterns of Culture. It is thanks to those angels that
Angeli Castle stands as it does today. The warmth of such angels—true love and loyalty that give meaning to life—has
allowed me to wait for tomorrow with hope. As more people illuminate Angeli Castle, the gardens brighten, and the
number of those enjoying culture increases, my desire to create a beautiful, good, and humane world through art has
only grown stronger. Though the steps may be slow—like water seeping invisibly into a sponge—I resolved to wait
for such a day.
With the scent of art, I hold the firm belief that we can build a beautiful world. I made a vow to construct a Tower of
Spirit that would not collapse, even in storms or heavy rain.
4. History and Tradition Belong to Those Who Move
I believe that history and tradition—whether of a nation, an individual, or a group—are earned by those who act and
move forward. At Angeli Castle, the French marigolds, whose flower language is “Happiness That Will Surely Come”,
bloom each year. The deep orange lilies, the large cherry blossom trees planted by the four musketeers, the mallow
that revives every year without being replanted, the Indian jujube tree with its red jewel-like fruit, the purple hydran-
geas, the yew trees growing steadily larger, the bellflowers bowing as they multiply, the moss phlox in azalea pink,
Gela and the Breath of Cello, and Viola, the black silky cat.
The plants and animals that bloom and live at Angeli Castle have all become subjects for my paintings. This exhibition
is subtitled The Story of Angeli Castle: Past, Present, and Future.
From within Angeli Castle’s 3,650 Lanterns of Culture, life is born and nurtured each year—and I breathe alongside all
of it.
Through the constant rhythm of exhibitions, events, and educational programs, Angeli Castle continues to build a
Tower of History and Tradition that cultivates culture. I believe this art museum will grow to shine even more cultural
lights.
From over 7,000 to 36,500 lanterns and beyond—countless lights of culture will be engraved in the hearts of the
public. Within the Flames of Culture that Angeli Castle spreads, people will learn and embody Beauty, Goodness, and
Humanity, changing the world into a more beautiful place.
I expect the air of this world to become fresh and clean through the influence of art. That transformation may not be
visible to the eye, but like a scentless, colorless presence, it will permeate daily life and create a world in harmony with
people of kindness and unity.
This meaningful conviction—the desire to create such a world—is the power and hope that art holds.
Angeli Castle will continue to light countless lanterns, nurturing fragrant people, animals, flowers, and trees through
the spread and enjoyment of culture—just like the harmony that makes up the world.
