HASOON SHIN
Ha-soon Shin's paintings are drawn as if they were not painted, and are quite simple. He summarized only the
impressive atmosphere of a specific space and landscape. The simple rustic texture of the line is excellent.
His paintings sometimes seem clumsy, simple, or unpretentious, but still manage to give a straightforward
glimpse of the impressive ambiance of a specific space and landscape. The simplicity and bucolic feeling of the
lines are wonderfully presented in his work. The combination of the trivial and simple brush strokes, the daringly
open emptiness, and spreading ink and sensitive colors give a rather sweet impression. He appears to bestow
harmony created by diverse lines and parts contained within the same space.
Mr. Shin studied Oriental Painting at Seoul National University in Korea, and Fine art at Aufbaustudium University
in Germany; he states his philosophy of paintings as something.
“I choose what really means to me. Meaningless tiny vase, abandoned toys by children, newly launched daily work,
the meanings of myriads of facial expressions and emotions. We always think about what we choose and live without
forgetting it easily in society where tremendous incidents occur and new information merges. Tiny things in a shown
world are chosen. In a memory, a new chapter reforms with friendly, artistic, and creative meanings. That is simply
revealed as a little story for an individual who lives through reality.”
