JOSEPH MUSCAT
Joseph Muscat deflects the idea of the single-medium, clearly-stylized artist. By using various mediums to
create acrylic paintings, oil paintings, watercolors, drawings, sculptural constructions, lithographs, and colour
photographs, he focuses on eclecticism. Through his mixed methods of creation, Joseph creates abstract
compositions of reflection, symbolism, and imagery.
“Contrary to the trendy perception that an artist is recognized by a singular form of mode or expression, I choose to
experience my environment beyond the walls of my comfort zone; I prefer instead to satisfy my creative and intellectual
curiosity through diverse means readily and abundantly available to me.”
Joseph has studied at Ontario College of Art & Design, Toronto. A.O.C.A. and École des Beaux-arts d’Aix-en-
Provence, France. He earned a B.A.Hons. at Glendon College, York University and a B.Ed. at University of Toronto.
He has done exhibition work across Canada, USA, Europe, and South America and participated in many
Professional Artists Associations.
Joseph currently allows art to remain within all of his daily involvements, including teaching, studio work, and
business of art. He describes, “I am endlessly at play.”
