A Congratulatory Message
It is already May. Even in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, the mountains and fields are in full bloom and
hundreds of people happily visit the mountains and sea. I would love to extend my words of congratulations to the
Korean Painting Association on holding a regular exhibition “Draw Flowers, Rice, Talk and Painting” in company with
the green blessing of the sunshine of May.
The Korean Painting Association manifests a true sense of courage in that it consistently organized a travelling
exhibition with success, even during the difficult times due to COVID-19. I sincerely believe that this exhibition
enhances its meaning of which the progressive spirit shines even brighter in the tough time.
Korean painting has been loved from generation to generation as a traditional Korean art establishing its proud status
as a representative traditional painting of our country. In recent difficult circumstances, artists of Korean painting
created the Korean Painting Association in order to overcome the crisis of Korean painting for further development
by gathering spontaneous efforts. It was truly heart-touching to see that artists of the Association have tried a new
paradigm through “the exhibition of 100 senior artists of Korean Painting” and “the exhibition of Korean painting asks
its path” inviting 82 established artists, while soulfully showing their impression and passionate potential.
Through the constant efforts of the past several years, with the approval as a corporation last year, I am aware that
Ms. Kim Chunok, President of the Association and all staff members are developing Korean painting with more
enthusiasm. I would like to express my heartfelt congratulations.Based on the abundant experience gained through
domestic travelling exhibitions, the artists are preparing for a regular exhibition as well as a special overseas exhibition
this year. Considering this, I sincerely hope that it will be an opportunity for Korean painting to be in the limelight in
the global art market, assisted by the lively domestic support.
Once again, I hope that the exhibition that is held during this difficult time will be completed with success. I also
expect that this event can transform into an epoch-making art movement in Korean art. I would like to extend my
deepest gratitude to Ms. Kim Chunok, President of the Korean Painting Association and all involved staff members
for their hard work making ceaseless efforts in preparing for this exhibition. Equally, I want to congratulate all the
members participating in this gemlike exhibition. Thank you.
