Note: Students from Senior Prep to High School go through actual fine dining
experiences when face-to-face classes resume.
B. Learning Approaches/Methodologies
Main framework in learning is through the Understanding by Design (UBD)
framework. UBD is called the backward design model that encourages
teachers to think as assessors and designers. The design advocates teachers to
teach with a clear picture of the end in mind (desired results).
1. S.P.E.L.L.S. (Strategic Program for Emergent Literacy through
Learning Shops), G.I.D.E.S. (Giftedness through Inter- Disciplinary
Educational Strategies, and R.I.C.H. (Relevant Integrated Curriculum
for High School) are educational strategies empowering the students to be
active participants in their own learning.
These are innovative approaches in presenting a subject of study by using
COMMON THEMES WEBBING and INTERRELATING the different subject
areas such that the students see the RELEVANCE of the learning content to
REAL LIFE and undergo learning processes which foster PERMANENT /
ENDURING LEARNING.
The emphases of integration are the following:
Skills in language: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and visual critiquing
▪ Across subject areas: Science or SLGE concepts are used as springboards for
Grammar or Reading lessons
▪ Concept and theme integration: Value of the Month to serve as a guide for
interdisciplinary activities or projects
