Testimonials from the Third Year Students

SISC College of Psychology aims to produce thesis papers that are excellently and
competently done by BS Psychology students. To ensure that we are all prepared for this,
Research 1 subject was offered to our year during our second semester, and this was the

starting point of our journey with the thesis. The beginning is always the easiest part, yet a
crucial one, because our decisions and actions in this part would determine our path for the

next phases of this journey. We proposed 3 research titles and defended them to the
panelists headed by Dr. Ruel Cajili.
After the short defense, we were asked to prepare ourselves for chapters 1 and 2 and for

the proposal defense that would determine if we would continue our topic, revise it, or
change it. Enough time was given for us to collect and gather all necessary information
needed for these chapters. It may sound easy at first, but there were sleepless nights and

stressful days that we encountered along the way. Getting information about our topics
wasn’t easy, as it takes a lot of time and effort, a great amount of perseverance, and a lot of
         patience.

We felt mixed emotions when the day of proposal defense came. We still felt nervous as
we presented our whole thesis proposal paper and seeing that we have such competent and
excellent set panelists, we all experienced pressure and even the doubt of our success. After

the presentation, all the pressure, the stress, and the doubt of not passing, all went away,
because the panelists did not discourage us from making some mistakes in our presentation.
They helped us understand the whole concept of our topic, suggested removing or adding

necessary information, and even guided us on making our paper even better. Although it was
all encouragement, they still challenged us to make better output and to be better as time
goes by. They expected us to create competitive and admirable papers that will surely benefit

not only the school, but also our community as a whole.

My thesis journey made me realize that all the struggles that we experience in
life (whether in school or personal) are worth it since those experiences give

us the knowledge and strength that we need to face our future.

It was challenging; I had sleepless nights and stressed out days because of

writing and studying my thesis. Indeed, it was tough but I find it exciting as
well, since I am able to discover, learn new knowledge, and understand more
about my thesis topic which is very close to my heart.
