Edge of Reconnection!
PAPJA - Psychological Association of the Philippines- Junior Affiliates carry out its 34th
Annual convention on the 7th of May, 2021 with this year's theme of "Transitioning to the New
Normal Through Healing and Recovery." This year's celebration was held Virtually but ensured
different engaging activities like contests and workshops. Prior to the day of the convention,
different contests were announced and were opened to all schools with bona fide and
currently enrolled undergraduate Psychology students in the Philippines. The said
competitions were (a)PSYCLIPS, A Video-Making Competition for Psychology Majors; (b)
SongWriting Competition, these two should have content aligned to this year's theme; and
lastly (c) BEST UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH, A search for the Best Undergraduate Research
in Psychology. Among the three competitions, two of those were participated by SISC
Psychology society: one entry on Psyclips entitled " Quarantine Diary: Light Through
Darkness", and two entries for Best Undergraduate Research on a study about "Psychological
safety climate and job Satisfaction of Bus Drivers'' and "Masculine Behavior and Psychosocial
Maturity of Male Young Adults with an Absentee Father."
Master of Ceremony: Welcome remarks: Marc Dr. Eduardo C. Caligner
Mr.Punch San Jose Erik S. Reyes, PhD.
The day of the convention was formally commenced by the Master of Ceremony, Mr.
Punch San Jose, and was started by an invocation and singing of the National Anthem. To
welcome everyone to the event, Marc Erik Reyes, Ph.D. spoke as the president on behalf of
PAP, this was followed by a message from Dr. Eduardo Caligner Ph.D., the PAP Board Director,
and Convention Chair. Before the announcement of winners, Mr. Kenneth Ross Javate pitched
in words about resilience, routine and radical acceptance relevant to our current situation.
The awarding for Best Undergraduate Research was initiated by Dr. Margaret Helen Udarbe-
Alvarez, the Chairman of Board of Judges, Ms. Issa Litton, COO, head trainer and talent
manager of @fLitCorp for PsyClips awarding, and Prof. Jude Roldan, from Centro Escolar
University Conservatory of Music, for Pop Song Writing. Likewise, Ms. Riyan Portuguez RPm,
Psy, the second Plenary speaker, had some words of wisdom on Self-Healing and Recovery
Amidst Crisis, in between the awarding. Consequently, Ateneo de Manila University garnered
